Supporting Community Connections at Malabar

WMS joins Cornwall Housing and local organisations for a community engagement event in Truro.

WMS was pleased to attend the Malabar Community Day at Malabar Community Centre in Truro, joining Cornwall Housing and a range of local organisations to engage with residents and support a positive community initiative.

Held on Tuesday 20 October 2026, the event brought together local services, community groups and residents for an afternoon focused on practical support, information sharing and building stronger community connections.

Bringing Local Services Together
The event offered residents the opportunity to meet representatives from a variety of organisations, ask questions and learn more about the support available within their community.

Alongside information and advice from local teams, the afternoon included a free clothes swap and donation event, encouraging residents to exchange good-quality clothing, reduce waste and support one another.
Refreshments were also provided, helping create a welcoming and informal environment where residents could meet, chat and connect.
The event brought together representatives offering support across a range of areas, including housing, repairs, community safety, mental health, family services and youth activities.
Residents were also invited to share their thoughts on the Behenna Road Play Park, providing an opportunity for local voices to contribute to discussions about their community.

Connecting with Residents
Representatives from WMS attended the event to meet local residents and provide information about our estate services and support.
Having a presence at community events like this provides an opportunity to engage with residents outside of our everyday maintenance activities, helping build familiarity, encourage communication and strengthen relationships.
It also allows us to work alongside other local organisations, supporting a joined-up approach to community engagement.

Supporting Stronger Communities
At WMS, we recognise that social value is not always about large projects or financial contributions.
Taking the time to engage with residents, listen to their concerns and support community-led initiatives can also make an important contribution.
By attending Malabar Community Day, we were pleased to support an event designed to encourage social connection, improve access to local services and create opportunities for residents to have their voices heard.
We're proud to work alongside organisations that share our commitment to supporting the communities in which we operate.
Stronger communities start with connection, communication and working together.
