THANK YOU WMS SOMERSET!

The good news keeps rolling in to WMS, this time in the form of a lovely letter of thanks from Lords Larder to our Somerset branch, a food bank covering the Somerset area.

These guys do a fantastic job within the community and WMS will continue to do anything we can to support them in delivering their brilliant work!

It’s always humbling when recipients of our donations take the time to write a letter of thanks to us, thank you Lords Larder!

SALVATION ARMY RECOGNISES WMS

WMS Cornwall office were thrilled to receive a letter of thanks from Redruth Salvation Army this week.

Employees at WMS took it upon themselves to donate a selection of tinned and dried goods to this worthy cause, and as you can see from the letter this was greatly appreciated!

Times are hard and WMS continue to do all they can to support the community in which we serve and look to promote social value initiatives as and where possible with our clients.

Social values are our values, well done WMS Cornwall office!

WMS AND ABRI TEAM UP TO SUPPORT YEOVIL FOODBANK

WMS continue their support of local foodbanks within their areas of operation by teaming up with their partner Abri to support the fantastic work conducted by the Lords Larder Foodbank in Yeovil!

Abri have had a long term all year round commitment to the Lords Larder and WMS are thrilled to be able to support them!

Working closely with Abri’s Community Investment and Financial Responsibility Teams - WMS have donated £500 towards Lords Larders operations!

Excited at the closer working relationship with Abri, WMS Client Services Manager Steve Oakley said “WMS recognise the sterling work foodbanks and their supporters all over the country are doing - especially during this energy and cost of living crisis.

We are particularly proud of the support they are giving in our areas of operation and welcome the opportunity to become involved. WMS and Abri share the same vision in this regard and we look forward to working together to help people in need wherever we can in the years to come.”

CORNWALL'S CPR FOODBANK WELCOMES WMS!

WMS have extended their support of local independent foodbanks by sponsoring Cornish based CPR Foodbank in Pool, Redruth!

Formed in 2010 by Donovan and Jenifer Gardner the foodbank  now has;

  • 5 members of staff responsible for running the operation
  • 60 volunteers supporting them each week
  • 3 foodbanks operating across Cornwall
  • 10,000 meals distributed each month (14-16,000 during the pandemic!)
  • supported 370 families in last year’s Christmas Meal Campaign
  • 15 local retailers donating surplus food to those in need.

Don continues to be massively involved in the day to day running and operations of the foodbank and can be seen here accepting a little gift from WMS we hope may help in some part!

WMS HAIL SUCCESS OF THIS YEARS WMS CHRISTMAS JUMPER DAY!

WMS are absolutely delighted at the response they have had to their WMS Christmas Jumper Day – raising over £1,020 for the Stroke Association!

Organised by our own Sasha (The Basher!) Burnham all monies kindly donated by WMS employees were matched by Michael and Anthea, a fantastic gesture!

Well done Sasha! A credit to the business!

COMPETITION WINNER TEGAN WINS WMS GUESS THE PASTA CHALLENGE!

North Devon schoolgirl Tegan was thrilled to learn she had won the “WMS Guess The Pasta Challenge” just in time for Christmas!

Successfully guessing there were 458 pieces in the jar - Tegan takes home an Amazon voucher courtesy of WMS!

WMS Client Services Manager Steve Oakley said “counting the pasta pieces was a challenge in itself for us as I kept losing count! but fair play to Tegan she nailed it and is a worthy winner!”

Well done Tegan, have a very Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year from all your friends at WMS!

Harbour and WMS offer sanctuary!

WMS are proud to sponsor Bideford based Harbour Community, an open access facility welcoming anyone over the age of 16 who can benefit for the support they offer!

Providing a safe, non judgmental and non threatening environment where people are accepted regardless of their circumstances or situation Harbour Community,  working purely from donations, offer;

  • Hot food and drink
  • Access to dry clean clothes
  • Access to telephone, internet and postal address
  • Advice and support
  • Counselling
  • Signposting
  • Help with form filling
  • Accompanying to agencies and
  • Courses

With a team of over 20 volunteers Harbour Community have helped over 860 people since their inception 13 years ago with their magnificent work in Bideford and the surrounding areas.

WMS are proud of their involvement with Sara (Chair Person, Treasurer and everything else in between!) and Alan (pictured) and hope to continue to support them and their team for as long as they are needed!

The Big Jubilee Lunch

WMS and CG Clean Down support The Big Jubilee Lunch!

WMS were thrilled when receiving a call for help from Anna Jay representing Crantock Street Community Garden and their Big Jubilee Lunch last week!

Crantock Street Community Garden (formerly a car park!) has been reclaimed by the community and has been host to numerous community events following its refurbishment!

WMS, and in no small part their sub contractor CG Clean Down, carried out some minor titillation in readiness for the Big Jubilee Lunch over the weekend.

What a fantastic cause to support and I'm sure you'll see from the pics what a great event!

CRACKER JACK!

CRACKER JACK!!!

 What a day it turned out for young Jack (pictured) as he was presented with his competition prize, a giant bear courtesy of WMS!

Jack successfully guessed the bears name “Derek” having entered WMS’ name the bear competition at their stand at the hugely successful North Devon Homes Funday held at Petroc College!

 WMS Client Services Manager Steve Oakley said “Seeing Jacks face when we introduced him to Derek was fantastic!, we are so pleased for young Jack, it was a great day, WMS always look forward to attending and supporting the North Devon Homes Funday, roll on next year, long may it continue!
